Young Vit Leadership Week has kicked off in Martinborough, where the last two winners of the Bayer Young Viticulturist of the Year competition will meet some of New Zealand’s top wine industry leaders, as well as those from other industry sectors.
Bayer Young Viticulturist of the Year 2015 Caleb Dennis and Cameron Price, the winner from 2016, began their national tour in Martinborough on Monday, where they met with some of the region’s early pioneers and senior viticulturists, including Phyll and Clive Paton from Ata Rangi, Larry McEnna from Escarpment and Nick Hoskins from Vine Managers.
They then headed to Wellington, Nelson, Auckland and Central Otago where they met with pioneers, CEOs, winemakers and board members including Herman Seifried, Judy Finn, Brent Marris and Michael Brajkovich MW, as well as Gareth King of Felton Road, Rudi Bauer of Quartz Reef and Robin Dicey of Ceres.
In Auckland the pair sat in on a rehearsal of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra to learn how conductor Giordano Bellincampi leads and brings together 70+ people to work for a truly harmonious result. NZ Wine says leadership week is important for the future industry leaders to listen, learn and grow.
