Pernod Ricard pledges 2,000 meals to Kiwi hospitality workers

Pernod Ricard has announced it will pledge 2000 meals to New Zealand hospitality workers who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Tens of thousands of staff across bars, pubs and clubs in New Zealand have either lost their jobs or are coping with reduced hours, and many small venues and businesses have been forced to close their doors.

As part of the Meals For Mates initiative, Pernod Ricard is offering two meals per hospitality worker to the value of $30.00 which will be delivered this week (limited to 1000 people).

The offer can be used at Urban Gourmet in Auckland, The Catering Studio in Wellington, and Eaton Drink Co in Christchurch.

“Our restaurant, bar and catering partners are the lifeblood of the industry and we want to help the teams of people that create these places for consumers to come together,” says Eric Thomson, Pernod Ricard Winemakers Director.

“They have given us so much, now let’s help them. We want to encourage the community, where possible, to continue supporting their local hospitality businesses so as many as possible can remain open.”

Lizzi Pearson, Urban Gourmet General Manager, says the catering company has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic but for our industry to bounce back, they need to support others in the industry with collaborative and innovative thinking.

“We are proud to partner with Pernod Ricard for such a great initiative that helps our fellow hospo workers get through. We encourage all New Zealanders to support local where possible, especially with the local hospitality restaurants, bars and cafes we all love,” she says.

Hospitality workers impacted by the COVID-19 crisis can access the $30.00 offer from today Tuesday, 12 May, by emailing mealsformatesnz@pernod-ricard.com along with proof of working in the hospitality industry.
