New Zealand’s first luxury cocktail delivery service, Cocktail Collective, has launched.
In a food bag style of delivery, select a cocktail online, pick a location anywhere in New Zealand and a hand-curated box filled with fresh produce, perfectly portioned small batch spirits and an easy-to-follow recipe card will be delivered.
The concept developed out of a conversation between two couples from Auckland’s North Shore, Nick Halpin and Nazla Carmine and Simon and Sally Bosley, on New Year’s Day, 2016. Reflecting on a great party surrounded by children, with great food and great wine, the couples speculated that only the addition of cocktails would have elevated the occasion. But the expense and wastage were offputting.Cocktail Collective was developed in response to this.
The first Cocktail Collective box profiled, an espresso martini, is a collaboration between Cocktail Collective and Auckland-based institution coffee roastery Altezano Brothers. It features the first-ever cold brew coffee specifically crafted for an espresso martini.
“We knew there was only one coffee roastery we wanted to work with. We pitched the project and held our breath,” says Cocktail Collective co-founder Nazla Carmine. “Their response was ‘don’t worry about the details, we think this is going to be fun, we’re in’.”
Several months of trials and taste-testing has produced the espresso martini. Rather than opt for mass-produced products, every ingredient has been carefully selected to give the ultimate taste profile and a thick longer-lasting crema crown – the gold-standard mark of a quality espresso martini that means the 10th pour looks and tastes just like the first.
