US: Pizza Hut rolls out beer and wine delivery

Pizza lovers in the US can now enjoy a cold brew with their pizza delivery with Pizza Hut announcing the launch of a beer and wine delivery service.

According to Fortune.com, the Yum Brands company started testing beer delivery in Phoenix, Arizona, this week and plans to expand into wine delivery – both single serves ant bottles – in January.

The company told Fortune the beer and wine will be delivered in a custom cooler to ensure the alcohol is ready to drink.

Pizza Hut has 6,300 stores in the US and 1,700 already have liquor licenses, a spokeswoman told Fortune, adding that the company sees a lot of growth opportunity.

The first beer delivery options include Budweiser, Bud Light, Shock Top, or local beer Kilt Lifter for US$10.99 a six-pack. That selection will likely change in different markets.

Pizza Hut, and parent company Yum Brands, has been investing capital to expand its delivery network as it fights off rival Dominoes.
