The Shout NZ’s Tash McGill shortlisted for the IWSC 2023 Spirits Communicator Trophy

The Shout NZ‘s spirit expert, Tash McGill, as been named as a finalist for the International Wine & Spirits Competition’s 2023 Spirits Communicator Trophy.

Carving out an impressive career in spirits communication in New Zealand over the past 10 years, Tash’s experience includes writing and presenting, consulting for brands, and supporting the local industry with the implantation of regulations for the production of home-produced spirits, including New Zealand rum and whiskey.

Entries for the Spirits Communicator Trophy are welcomed from publishing, journalism, broadcasting and education from all over the globe, and are judged by a panel of experts – including 2022’s winner, Millie Milliken.

The award honours excellence in effective, and meaningful communication across multi-channels and candidates must be/have been:

  • Actively involved in communications in the spirits industry and across different channels.
  • Recognised as a role model for trade and/or consumer.
  • Demonstrate ethics and professionalism in communication.
  • Recognised as an advocate in the spirits industry.
  • Earned a reputation as being highly credible with a variety of audiences.

“It is an unreal honour to be chosen as a finalist amongst a stellar lineup of communicators I respect,” says Tash.

“It’s a testament to the growth and integrity of the industry here in New Zealand that there are so many rich and wonderful stories to tell and a privilege to be trusted by so many facets of the industry to represent us and lift our industry on a world stage.

“My hope is that this inspires even more curiosity about the New Zealand spirits story internationally.”

The winner will be announced at IWSC’s Awards Dinner & Industry Celebration on 29 September.
