Yealands named Most Successful Winery at SIWC

Yealands Wine Group have been named the Most Successful Winery of Competition at the 2018 Sydney International Wine Competition (SIWC) after being awarded three Trophies, four Top 100/Blue-Gold medals, four Blue-Gold Medals and two Gold Medals.

This is the second time in two years that Yealands have been awarded the Most Successful Winery Trophy and marks the company’s most successful results ever in the nine years of entering this competition.

This year, trophies were awarded to Peter Yealands Reserve Sauvignon Blanc 2017 for best Sauvignon Blanc, Babydoll Rosé 2017 for best still Rosé and Crossroads Talisman Syrah 2014 for best medium bodied dry red, with Top 100/Blue-Gold Medal winners including the company’s flagship wines Peter Yealands Sauvignon Blanc 2017 and Yealands Estate Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc 2017.

The SIWC, now in its 35th year, is independently run and funded and only accepts a maximum of 2,000 wine entries, all of which are blind tasted by a panel of wine experts in a three -phase judging system. The third and final phase evaluates all wines that have reached phase three alongside carefully prepared dishes of a similar palate weight before awarding final results.

“These are incredible results for us, and to receive the Most Successful Winery trophy for the second time is truly an honour,” says Jeff Fyfe Chief Winemaker for Yealands. “It’s brilliant to see such a wide range of our wines winning top medals as well, from our most premium whites and reds to our everyday favourites, and not just Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir, but Pinot Gris and Chardonnay too.  Really, really happy with these results.”
