Sprig & Fern Brewery are celebrating a remarkable night at the 2018 New Zealand Brewers Guild Awards, held in their home town of Nelson.
The Sprig & Fern team brought home the largest medal haul in the brands history, a staggering 13 medals across a range of awards categories which included medals for many of the recently released glass varieties including West Coast IPA, Tasman Reserve, Soiree, and Doppelbock.
Master Brewer and Owner Tracy Banner, who is celebrating her 35 years in the brewing industry this week, was deservedly recognised receiving the Morton Coutts Trophy for Innovation and Achievement in the Brewing Industry. “Being consistently awarded at the Brewers Guild of New Zealand annual awards truly showcases that our core values of quality and consistency remain paramount within our team” she said, “but being personally recognised was truly humbling”.
It was later in the evening that Sprig & Fern Brewery were also announced as the 2018 Champions in Packaging, awarded on aesthetics, product information, utility (ease of use, style) and innovation. Throughout a 2017 rebrand project, with design agency Inject, the Sprig & Fern team were conscious that the finished product needed to not only look stunning on shelf but also assist the palette expectations for experienced and new consumers alike including being able to successfully work across the extensive range of beers and ciders. “As a brand we are exceptionally proud of this achievement and the way our new packaging across the 1.25L, 500ml and 330ml six packs has been received by New Zealand consumers” said Lee Brown, Sprig & Fern Brewery General Manager.
