Each week we will be featuring a local bar, pub or club to help boost the Kiwi hospitality industry and encourage customers to get out and explore (when we can!).

This week, Marko Kucic shares an insight into the recently reopened Christchurch bar, Viaduct.

How would you describe Viaduct and its atmosphere?

Viaduct Public House & Restaurant is a bright modern tavern located in hart of The Terrace hustle and bustle. Positioning us about the ground floor gives our customers tranquillity feeling and opportunity to enjoy quiet drink while observing gorgeous views over the Avon river.

How do you ensure that Viaduct stands out from the crowd?

Our restaurant aspect is based on fresh seafood and smoked meats menu that nobody else is doing on the strip. Serving drinks from the island bar is also something new for our customers and gives them opportunity to interact with the staff form all 180 degrees angles.

What is your signature drink?

We don’t have a signature drink that represents the venue. Our bartenders are showcasing their innovation on already established classic cocktails. One thing that we are promoting every week is one classic cocktail as a special just to remind our guests the original recipes and flavours.

What are you most looking forward to about the hospitality industry in 2021?

We all know how turbulent and crazy last year was. In 2021 we want our guests to have as much social interactions with their family and friends. Hospitality industry is here to create memories and bonds for lifetime.

What are your top tips for being a great bartender?

A great bartender should be: friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about creating experience to his patrons/guests. Listening to your customers and understanding their needs and wants is the ultimate goal of every hospitality person.
