In 2007, we joined Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand, a pioneering environmental certification programme for wine. Building on this, we adopted the internationally recognised ISO14001 Environmental Management Standard in 2019, which guides every part of our operations and drives continuous improvement. We gained independent certification in 2011.
We then took the next step by measuring, reducing and offsetting all our emissions, becoming a Toitū certified net carbonzero organisation in 2021 (ISO14064). This covers everything from electricity and fuel to freight and business travel.
We reduce our environmental footprint through initiatives such as using New Zealand-sourced, lightweight glass bottles, biodegradable pallet wrap, recycling shrink wrap into pallet slip sheets and our soft plastics become vineyard posts. We generate our own electricity via solar panels on the winery roof; we capture rainwater to reduce our reliance on the aquifer and plant native trees from our own nursery at our vineyards to lessen soil erosion and increase biodiversity.
Most recently, we became a proud member of the B Corp™ community – joining a global movement of businesses balancing purpose and profit. We are one of just 85 certified B Corps in New Zealand.
As a small, hands-on team of 18, we do everything ourselves—from growing the grapes to making and bottling the wine. That autonomy gives us full control and ensures every decision reflects our deep commitment to sustainability, quality, and care. Oh, and making truly delicious wines!
