2025 New Zealand Spirits Awards medal winners announced

The medallists in the 2025 New Zealand Spirits Awards have been revealed from more than 400 local and global entries.

The results come after blind tastings held in Wellington from 16–18 July and, in total, 66 Gold Medals were awarded – 24 in the Gin category, followed by 16 in the Whisky category.

The best of the medal winners are now in the running for trophies for Best New Zealand and Best Overall in each category and they will be announced at the Awards Dinner on 15 August.

There will also be trophies for the following categories:

  • New Zealand Pre-Batched Cocktail Award
  • Best in Category Award
  • Cpack New Zealand Packaging & Design Award
  • Cue Marketing New Zealand Emerging Product Award
  • Liquorland New Zealand Innovation Award
  • New Zealand Best Paring Award
  • New Zealand Bartender of the Year Award
  • New Zealand Best Cocktail Bar Award

Robert Brewer, Chief Executive of Spirits NZ, said the indefatigable quality that exists within the spirits industry is also evidenced by the quality of the entries.

“As consumer trends change I feel the sector is well placed to take advantage of a consumer that is drinking less but looking for premium, unique drinking experiences,” said Robert Brewer, Chief Executive of Spirits NZ.

“Spirits – either consumed neat or as a cocktail or RTD – are fast becoming the preferential premium choice for the busy, mindful drinker.”
